Philadelphia
Robyn: Philadelphia is fantastic. Here are the numbers. 12 Stephen Starr restaurants, 2 minute walk to the boutiques on Walnut Street, and 20 minutes to King of Prussia. It all adds up to a 5 star experience.
Dave: I've got numbers for you: Salary. $0. Tuition $40k. Course packs you probably won't read: $400. Textbooks you definitely won't read: $500. Keeping your wife happy in the city of brotherly love? Priceless.
Eternal learning team meetings
Robyn: I don't understand why 5 people, who all were smart enough to get into Wharton, take more than 10 hours to come up with a plan for how Gillette should sell razors in Indonesia? Here's my solution: sell razors to people that shave!
Dave: You're not going to publish this, right? So here's the thing. Whenever I want to go out with friends, I tell Robyn that I have a learning team meeting. It is the perfect excuse, and worked like a dream last Friday night. Sure our team is last place in SABRE, but we're in first place at Monk's.
The Wharton Partners Community
Robyn: There is a great mystery about Wharton partners. Why is it that Wharton wives are better looking than the students they married?
Dave: One thing I don't like about Wharton is that Robyn might figure out that she's better looking than me.
Participating in Wharton sports activities
Robyn: Dave sucks at flag football. No wonder his cohort lost in intramurals. At least he doesn't suck in hockey.
Dave: I suck at flag football. No wonder my cohort lost in intramurals.
Recruiting
Robyn:Robyn: Show me the money!
Dave: This was a tough process. So many questions to answer in so little time. What do I want to do with my life? Which firm is the best cultural fit? What jobs best match my skills and interests?
Participating in Wharton club activities
Dave: Wharton's clubs are fantastic - the IM Club, Canada Club and Wine Club all enable me to share different interests with like-minded friends!
Robyn: Wharton's club network is fantastic - they all have free booze at socials!
Paying the bills
Dave: Coming to school with a partner is a great way to live "rent-free" without sharing the TV remote with mom & dad.
Robyn: It's all about NPV living - pay the bills today for a big payoff in the future!
SABRE
Dave: My learning team spends a lot of time on SABRE. Today we talked about our team's market strategy for Novus. I am really grateful that Jon on my team really understands our product and the market.
Robyn: Isn't that the toothed-tiger from the Flintstones?
What we are doing this summer
Dave: I am really looking forward to my summer internship in Boston. The hours will be long, but I am excited to apply what I've learned over the past year in a new setting.
Robyn: Dave will be gone Monday to Friday in Boston this summer. Watch out for "Wharton Wives Gone Wild" every Wednesday night at Byblos!
