Snowy, cold Philadelphia was merely an afterthought as the Wharthogs touched down in Buenos Aires, land of churrascos, Malbec, mullets, Ricardo Mantoban, and Argentine women...

Immediately after touching down on Saturday morning in Buenos Aires, the Hogs headed straight for their first game of the 2007 tour, against Club Atletico de San Isidro (CASI), one of Argentina's most successful and storied rugby clubs. Following several days of monsoon-like rainfall, the perfect stage for a mud bowl was set.

Despite a valiant effort against a young, tough, and well-conditioned CASI side, the Hogs lost by 8 tries, with the only scoring of the match coming off the always-reliable boot of fullback Joe "Camo-Hammock" Newell.

Notable performances included Andy "Dancing with the Stars" Cohen's tough tackling, Rob "Toe to Toe with the Ruskies" Wolfman's play at scrum-half, Saurabh "Big Daddy" Sharma's play at prop, and Kenny "White Fever" Kim's slashing runs. JT "The Stormin Mormon" Clark maintained the Hogs' physical brand of play by taking his Wharton Fight Night preparation to the pitch and laying a couple of punishing blows.

Dishonorable mention must also go to William "Nuclear Option" Bundy for his misguided attempt at punting the ball downfield. Brendan "Showtime" Dillon, off the plane no more than 30 minutes, was lost to a shoulder injury halfway through the first half executing his new "helicopter" maneuver. Heiko "My Neck and my Back" Nick, fresh and spunky after a thorough night's rest, also saw his rugby tour come to an unpredictable end after a well-placed stomp from the opposition.

Following the match, the lads sat down to share beers, steaks, chorizo, and stories with players from CASI as their coach congratulated the Hogs' "enthusiastic" play. While Luis "You've Lost that Loving Feeling" Perez was busy swapping Venezuelan soap opera stories with the locals, Lachlan "Barnacle" McLean salvaged some pride by leading the Hogs to victory in a boat race over the CASI side. Jason "Moonlighting" Scheir, awoken from a deep post-game slumber by a bright full moon, led the post-game festivities charge well into the early hours of the morning. When questioned the following morning, tourists alleged seeing Alex "Tourist of the Tour" Amezquita being invited to a local's abode for rehab on his ankle, and Chris "C3PO" King-Sidney being kindly escorted out of a bar…
