The WGA Executive Council held met on Wednesday, January 24 2007, with President Hassan El- Houry presiding. The Executive Council received a number of funding requests.
Jan Hellmich (WG'08) and Asaf Eliakim (WG'08) received unanimous approval for their bid to reactivate and organize elections for the defunct Auto Club. The elected club leadership will assume responsibility for the funds in the Club Account.
The 2006 Yearbook had a budget over-run of $20,000 and the Executive Board is working on obtaining details of how this occurred and a means to remedy the situation. With regards to future editions, the Executive Council suggested some alternatives to be considered: elimination of the yearbook, migration to softcopy, requiring that students pre-purchase yearbooks or seeking alternative vendors.
Matt Kaye (WG'07) presented a funding request from Fighting for Philly Kids, a local not-for-profit that raises funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Philadelphia. Approval was given for a $1,000 donation from the WGA.
The Rugby Club received $800 to help cover facility usage expense for their practice sessions as they are no longer able to use PennRec facilities. The Athletic DVPs also received $600 for recreation space usage.
The Entrepreneurship Club requested the sum of $1,000 which they intended to pass on to the Anuj Mohan Fund. The Executive Council approved a one-time grant of $1,000 to be made directly to the fund on behalf of the WGA.
The meeting was adjourned until Wednesday, February 7 2007.
