The WGA Executive Council met on Wednesday November 22 2006 with 21 members in attendance and Hasssan El-Houry presiding.

Kerith Dilley, representing the Wharton International Volunteer Program (WIVP), provided an update on the Club's earlier request for funds. The Club has been able to raise a portion of the funds by partnering with some WGA Clubs. Club officials had also met with the WGA Executive Board to design a scheme that would provide funding based on ticket sales success. The intention of the Board was to support a significant MBA event and ensure that the club can fund its projects. The scheme provides grants ranging from $2500 to $8000 depending on the level of ticket sales to the Wharton Community achieved and was approved unanimously by the Council.

Matt Flynn presented a request for funds to sponsor two Wharton Basketball Club teams to a tournament at the Harvard School. The tournament is held in honor of a Harvard MBA candidate who was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's Disease and proceeds will go towards the search for a cure. Team members are currently covering the costs of travel and lodging; the request was to cover tournament fees. The Council approved $1000 contingent on the club providing an article in the Wharton Journal following the tournament.

Hendi Susanto and Muneesha Goyal presented proposals on behalf of the Wharton Partners and Wharton Kids Clubs. The funds will be used to support the clubs activities particularly over the Welcome weekend. Neither club received an allocation in the original budget. In acknowledgement of the role the clubs play within the Wharton Community, grants of $1500 and $700 were approved for the Partners and Kids clubs respectively.

The Council approved the sum $1500 to upgrade the WGA Treasury accounting software. The new software will improve expense tracking, provide easily accessible records and improve overall efficiency of Treasury activities.

A request to amend the Charter of the Creative Arts club to include three newly created positions was approved.

Finally WGA Member at Large Rob Thompson provided a preview of an initiative he is working that aims to help improve interaction between WGA Executive Council and the student body.

The next meeting will hold on Wednesday December 6 2006.
