Kedrick was born in a mining town in Liberia, West Africa, where he attended an international school and thus gained a global perspective very early on. He moved to the USA with his family at the age of 12, determined to live the American dream. Ever the achiever, he studied Physics at Rutgers University where he volunteered to work in the Physics lab in his very first semester. This association with the lab continued throughout his time at Rutgers.
Kedrick studied in England during his junior year of college. During his time there, he was introduced to the world of trading by a cousin that he acknowledges in his book. In Kedrick's words, "Upon seeing a trading desk for the first time, I knew I had found home."
Since that time, Kedrick's passion for trading has remained steadfast. He has now acquired over eight years of professional equity trading experience, and was most recently a Vice President at Knight Equity Markets, LP (currently a subsidiary of Knight Capital Group, Inc). In his book, he shares his passion for trading, teaching real-world techniques for trading equity trends from the individual stock level to the whole portfolio level.
Topics covered include: What are some methods of objectively defining trends? How can a trader cut losses short and let profits run in an objective manner, removing emotion from the process? How do you size positions in a multiple stock portfolio? How might one use trend following techniques to rotate between equity indices? His book is filled with in-depth insights, expert advice and real-world examples and is a valuable resource for anyone interested in equity trading.
Kedrick was recently elected First Year Vice President of the Wharton Sales and Trading Club, and is also Career Representative for his Cohort. He is a busy student and father of two, but also makes time to coach his son's soccer team, and writes songs as a hobby.
Please stop by the Penn Bookstore (3601 Walnut Street) at 5:00pm on Tuesday October 17th to show support for a most worthy member of the Wharton Community.
