The Wharton Global Consulting Practicum (GCP), MKTG 890 is a cross-functional, capstone course and consulting organization embedded in Wharton. It is designed to bridge the academic and international business worlds as teams execute marketing and strategy consulting engagements for fee-paying clients.

Since 1978, teams of approximately five Wharton MBA students and approximately five international MBA students have worked together to consult senior managers who want to enter or improve their company's position in the North American market or on occasion, other international markets.

But what is the GCP really?

It is a group of faculty, alumni, staff and a network of entrepreneurs and professionals who have endeavored to challenge individual students to look beyond their academic texts and final exams and to discover what it means to take the theory of the classroom and put it into practice. The merging of creative, intelligent and sophisticated MBA students with both the theory of their classes and the experience, advice and support of the GCP network has produced over the past 27 years not only fantastic student experience, but also innovative and effective solutions and ideas for companies all over the world.

Having executed over 200 projects with different clients, boasting over 1,000 Wharton alumni and as many international alumni, and a network of supporters that is thousands strong, the GCP has made a substantive impact in both the academic and international business worlds.

What are the secrets of GCP's success? Here are a few ingredients:

• State of the art analytical tools and frameworks that are valued and often employed by the client's management team

• Relationships with leading strategic consulting firms that contribute coaches, workshops and advice

• A dedicated team of staff, project faculty and teaching assistants that make a rewarding, unique and hands-on course experience for students (1st AND 2nd years!)

• The support of an active network of industry and functional experts and Wharton/partner school alumni who lend their experience and guidance to the program

• Diverse and dynamic industry and client environments ranging from agriculture to IT, to Social Impact Management (SIM) projects, start-ups to multi-billion dollar companies

• A growing list of GCP partner schools worldwide including Chile, China, Colombia, India, Israel, Peru and Spain

Now that you know what the GCP is all about - are YOU interested in:

• The class that many students rate as their most valuable experience at Wharton?

• An experience that will grow your international business skills?

• An all expenses paid International trip?

• The prospect or working with students at other leading MBA programs

• An experience that will build your professional credentials in almost any career path?

If so, the GCP might just be the crowning glory of your Wharton experience!
