This past week the MBA Career Management office announced changes to the second-year full-time recruiting process. Key changes include: new networking expositions; the second year Focused Interview Period (FIP); and increased use of bidding for interviews.
Networking Expos: Networking expos will take place on September 15, 18, and 19th, and are intended to provide a more efficient way for students and perspective employers to meet and interact then in the past. These events are for second year students only.
2nd Year Focused Interview Period (FIP): One of the highly anticipated changes this year is the second year FIP, which will take place from October 20 & 21 and October 23rd through 27th (with an odd exception of classes on the 26th).
Increased Bidding: This year, approximately 70% of employers are using the bid schedules and allocating and an average of 25% of interview slots are up for bid.
Accompanying these changes are a few policy changes, such as the mandatory class attendance policy, and the new MBACM position on Grade Disclosure.
This year, the MBACM will communicate both the Wharton and WGA policies on grade disclosure, and will highlight that there is a new grading system effective for the class of 2008.
The office cautioned that while the new Wharton Grade Disclosure policy applies to the class of 2008 and beyond, second year students should be prepared for questions about the topic, and should understand the pros and cons of disclosing vs. not disclosing their grades.
Other changes include the first year earliest offer date, which is Monday February 5th, and a restriction of club events in quarter 1 to educational events.
