Community-building at Wharton takes on a new shape

Despite the various perspectives thriving within the Wharton student body, there seems to be one pervasive understanding that most people agree upon: the fact that Wharton's greatest asset is its student community. That being the case, the WGA's core objective in the next year is to increase the quality and opportunity for interaction and relationship-building between students.

During my serious conversation with my parents, Brigitte and Jean-Luc (remember last week...), in front of the Eiffel Tower still wearing beret, my parents told me: « Son, you have to integrate within the US community and ask questions...» Throughout the year, I had a lot of questions...Following Chloe's amazing article, even if she was not my academic rep (I actually solicited too many times my academic rep, dedication to Tyler), I said I should ask her what is third base. Does that mean that we are getting close to home run? Hum... Here are Chloe's answers:

My mom had been the long-term president of our local humane society, so I had many great childhood memories of Saturdays spent washing and walking the dogs living in the shelter. So when I came to Wharton, community service was one element of my previous life that I was very interested in reconnecting to.

His name's Ed. He's 43. I met him last winter in the city. Visiting my friends there. It was so cold this day. I remember how the wind could just go through my bones. Frozen knife. What was the name of the street? Somewhere between Locust and Walnut. You know? Nice place.

April 24th will mark the return of an old Wharton Tradition - Final Friday. On this day, the Class of 2009 will reunite with their cohorts for one last time before graduation. The cohort marshals, Kembrel Jones, and the former WGA Executive Board have been preparing for this special day, from ordering champagne for the cohort toasts to brainstorming questions for the cohort competition.

It's tough to believe, but it's almost over. We have less than a month left. Then this thing that has profoundly shaped all of our lives over the past months, causing heartbreak, joy and occasional vomiting, will be done. Can you believe that the Dancing with the Stars Season 8 finale is approaching so quickly on May 17th?! And, as if that wasn't enough emotional turmoil itself (it already takes seven Bacardi Breezers and a pillow of tears for me to even flirt with sleep), I've heard that some of us are graduating.
