Advertising Policy


The Wharton Journal is a weekly newspaper run entirely by students of The Wharton School. It has a readership of approximately 4,000.

The Wharton Journal is the sole publication that reaches the entire business school community - students, faculty and administrators - at Wharton. Advertising in the Wharton Journal is a great way to distinguish your company, increase awareness of and turnout at events you may be holding and improve your company's image at the business school.

  • Publication dates are subject to change. Please email the ad manager to inquire about specific issues.
  • All camera-ready art must be received by 5 pm on the indicated deadline date. Insertion cannot be guaranteed for ads received after 5 pm on the Wednesday prior to publication.
  • Ad files must be in word, powerpoint, PDF, or TIFF format.

  • Dot Count: 65-line screen, printed by photo offset on newsprint
  • Newspaper colum width: 2 1/4" (4 columns per page)
  • Black & White, standard; additional spot color available for $150 (advance notice required)

  • Full Page: 9 3/4" wide x 15" tall (vertical only!)
  • Half Page: 9 3/4" wide x 7 1/4" tall (horizontal only!)
  • Quarter Page: 4 5/8" wide x 7 1/4" tall (vertical only!)

  • Full color is an additional $500
  • Spot color is $150 per color.
  • Resizing fee of $50 if art is not camera-ready (at actual size).
  • Late fee of 10% for all ads delivered after the deadline.
  • Discounts for multiple ads and pricing for premium placements can be discussed with the advertising/office manager.

Online Advertising


The Wharton Journal website averages roughly 1,000 page views per day and reaches the expansive and well connected Wharton network. Advertising on The Wharton Journal website is a great way to reach a targeted business school community with a large presence in Philadelphia and New York. Your online advertising banner can be present on the front page, throughout articles or targeted to specific pages of the website. Your advertising banner can also be clicked on for a link to your website. In addition, each issue of the publication is emailed out to the 9,000+ registered users of the website which is another great way to reach your client base. Each emailed issue of the publication has space for one, and only one advertisement. Rates for advertising online are as follows:

  • CPM rate: $7 / thousand page views of your advertising banner
  • Advertising in email edition (only one spot available): $100
